Maybe he was going through a rough spot yes, but I do think that does not excuse his reactions and actions, nor yours also. I understand jelaousy and can see his side, he feels more for you than he says (we guys do that) so naturally he gets pissed at the presence of another dude. I do think he got overzelaous in his reaction to it but biting him was not the best reaction, a nice non-head removing slap would have done the job well but he still shouldn't have shot you in the head, that's not cool.
